Good Morning Trailers

This Saturday we're City side to a familiar haunt but without the usual climb from the light house.

Route details
We warm up with a trot up the road to the start of the Lions Head Path trail. We'll join up with the Lions Head jeep track to the back of the head (no we're not going all the way up), by now our lungs should be awake and we'll stretch our legs taking the path left down to the Kramat. Follow the single track to the next parking lot where we can decide whether to visit the Signal Hill lookout before we continue down to the Noon Gun.
From the Noon Gun we'll follow the jeep track heading below the Signal Hill lookout (not dropping down to the trees), it becomes a single track along which we'll head back towards Lions Head. After finding our way back to the Kramat we'll drop down to the right of Lions Head above Fresnaye and hopefully enjoy views of Clifton and the 12 Apostles, returning to Koofneck parking via the Glen.

Please remember this a social pack run led by committee with plenty of opportunities for photographs, and its important that we look out for each other. Within your speed group, please ensure that if you come to a turn that the runner behind you has seen which way you go.

FW: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS Table Mountain Trailers run 21 May 2022

Hi all, run tomorrow is ON..

A chilly start at about 10 degrees with light wind – perfect weather.

There will be a relaxed group.

See you at 7am at Constantia Nek

Subject: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS Table Mountain Trailers run 21 May 2022

Hi all, this coming Saturday we will do an old favourite from Constantia Nek.

Up the steps to the first intersection, left up Constantia corner, then left to crawl up Agatha, rejoin the Constantia corner path, past the camel and then a detour to cross the tree and visit Klaasenkop.

After grinning at each other and taking pics, down to the concrete road at Devilliers dam.

From here are some choices based on your time constraints:

Straight back down to the cars will get you about 6km

Down Cecelia ridge and back will give you about 8km

For those with some time - Smuts track, aqueduct, upper Disa river to the museum, over the wall, Ash valley and back is between 13 and 14km

The weather is forecast to be chilly but very little wind, sunrise 7:35 so if we start at 7am we should have enough light for the first steps.

Expect some steep climbs, some minor rock scrambling, some fast and some slower single track.

Bring water, whistle, warm top, sour sweeties, sense of humour.

Any questions, whatsapp or call me on 082 570 4405.

Geoff

Subject: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS - SATURDAY 14 MAY 2022: BUFFELSBAAI TO CAPE POINT TO PLATBOOM & BACK (Entry Fee R90 with ID/ Wildcard/ MyGreenCard)

Hi Trailers

After the hilly route this weekend, we will be exploring a flattish run in beautiful Cape Point on Saturday. Runnable with not much elevation and beautiful scenery. Both single track and tar(with a view…) – two different distances on offer

Route

We park at Buffelsbaai parking (not the information centre) and run along the upper single track towards Cape Point continuing right through to the parking at Cape Point lighthouse. Detour to the lighthouse is an option. We cross the parking and take the single track to the right that leads down to Dias Beach (we can detour down there to visit). There is also a detour to a view spot before Dias Beach – well worth visiting. Back on the single track we run down to the road and take this along the coast. At Pegram's Point we get back on to some single track and run along the coast to Platboom. Here we turn up and take the road up the hill and back to Bufflesbaai. About 14kms – detour dependent

For those who want a shorter option, cross the first tar road and turn right at the next intersection (jeep track) and follow the track down to Platboom. About 10kms

Rendezvous and start time

The park opens at 7am. We will meet at Buffelsbaai parking (take road to left after the Buffelsfontein Information centre turn off) and start running at 7h30am.

There is no reception so we won't know if you are running late.

The entrance fee for SA citizens with ID is R90 or use a Wildcard or a MyGreenCard

Terrain & Distance

The route is a combination of single track and tar. Not much elevation and very runnable.

The planned route is around 14km and the shorter route around 10km .

What to bring

Water, whistlea space blanket and your ICE information. The weather can be different in the park. Please come prepared for wind, mist, sun or rain!

Please check the weather before you set off from home and pack the appropriate waterproof/warm gear.

A picnic or a swim at Buffelsbaai or Venus pools afterwards is an option. Store all food in the car out of sight of baboons while we are out running.

Please note that TMT unfortunately does not allow dogs on its runs.

Please be aware that our runs operate under the modified COVID protocols

  • All runners to carry a mask or buff
  • Practice social distancing
  • Please carry emergency contact numbers in your bag or on your wrist/shoe
  • VOB reserves the right to stop TMT if the COVID infections increase again in the Western Cape
  • If you have any symptoms or have been in contact with anyone with symptoms, please stay at home

RE: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS - Saturday 7 May 2022

Good Morning Trailers

Our run tomorrow is ON.

It is going to be cool, so please bring appropriate clothing,  but according to my weather gurus, it looks like the rain will have passed by Saturday morning.

There will be NO walking group.

For those who will NOT do the climb up Suther Peak, there will be an option to do a very runnable route with Lorraine.

For those who choose to climb the Peak, we will do an extra leg of the route to add some distance, if time permits.

See you all tomorrow just before 7h00 to sign in 😊.

Hi all Trailers!

This week we will venture on a relatively new route for most - up Suther Peak on the Hout Bay side.

Rendevouz

We meet at the brick-paved parking on Eustagia Way, opposite Brunia Way in Hout Bay.  We should be ready to start running at 7h00 – sunrise is 7h25, so please come 10 mins earlier to sign the register and for a run briefing.

Please be aware there is limited parking, so please try and share lifts with friends, or even park away from the area and walk to the start.  Please be considerate when parking your car.

Directions

Take the Hout Bay Main Road around the circle into Victoria Road, drive through the robots and take the second road to the left into Edgar Road and second road on the right. Into Eustegia Way. Parking area on the left opposite Brunia Way.

Route

We will ascend Suther Peak.  There are sections which involve some scrambling, so for those who are not keen to attempt the climb, there will be an option to do another route along the Sandy Bay/Llandudno coastline to the shipwreck and back.

The terrain will include beach sand, jeep track (stony), single track, boulder-hopping and a steep climb.

There may be a walking group but this will be confirmed on Friday.

What to bring – the usual, water, whistle, warm/waterproof top, and some money for the car guard.  Some may need a headlamp for the first while.

Make sure you have your emergency contact details on you.

This is a pack run so we are to look out for each other and ensure that the person behind knows we have turned.

We regroup frequently to ensure that no one gets lost.

Unfortunately no dogs are allowed on our runs.

Look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.   The weather looks to be a cool 18 degrees with some light rain, but of course, it is Cape Town and is likely to change by the weekend 😊

For any queries, please feel free to Whatsapp me.

Have a great week.
