FEEDBACK: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS 16 Jan 2016: Sunbird Centre To Kalk Bay

Hello Trailers

It was a chilly start, but very welcome after the run of sweltering hot days we had been experiencing. We set off on a new route from the Sunbird Centre. The main group rocketed down the unmade Clovelly Road and over Trappieskop, taking in a quick view of Kalk Bay and then onto an arduous climb up Echo Valley and up Weary Willy's to the Ampitheatre and back to the cars. The main group completed a distance of approximately 14.8km which took about 2h18.
The recovery group followed at a more leisurely pace, turning at Kalk Bay towards Clovelly for a cliff run with panoramic sea views and down through the Wetlands and over the sand dune. The sand was soft and fine and most of it ended up in our shoes. Apparently two months ago the sand dune wasn't problematic to run as there was more moisture in the sand. This route should be better in whale season. The route was approximately 11.86km and was completed in a similar time to the main group.
Randolph, our Run Manager for the morning, presented Gaeleen Tompkins with her t'shirt marking her 175th run with TMT. Well done Gaeleen.
There was no run/walk group.
