TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS - SATURDAY 3 SEPTEMBER 2022: Blackburn Ravine and Constantiaberg. Spring start time 7am

Hi Trailers

It's the theoretical start of spring next month so we're starting with a bang!

We are going to climb Blackburn Ravine and then up to the Constantiaberg Mast, down to Elephant's Eye Lookout and back down Blackburn.

A shorter flatter option for those who don't want to climb will go on the Manganese Mine/hoerikwagga trail to picnic rock and back

Route

We park at The Hout Bay beach parking near the Beach Café, run up the tar to East Fort and up the lower track to Blackburn. We ascend Blackburn to the lookout and take the path to the left which takes us to the Constantiaberg Mast. After tagging the peak, we run down the path going to Elephant's eye. We then turn down and run along the track taking us back to the Hout Bay lookout and down Blackburn via the upper or lower path depending on preference and back to the cars.

For those that don't want to climb, the shorter flatter option will take you along the Manganese Mine/ hoerikwagga trail on the other side of Constantiaberg towards picnic rock and the tar road coming down from the mast. Pose for pictures on Picnic rock and retrace your steps back to the cars

Rendezvous and start time

Meet at the Hout Bay parking lot at 6h55am ready to run at 7am . Note: earlier time

Terrain & Distance

The longer route is mostly single track with some degraded jeep track and tar to start and end.

We are climbing to the second tallest peak on the mountain so be prepared for the climb to the peak and then it is a wonderful descent all the way back down

The shorter route is mostly single track

The planned route is around 12km and the shorter route around 10km . Distances estimated!
