TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS - SATURDAY 26 August 2023: Silvermine East via Trappieskop and Cave Peak

Hi Trailers

Next Saturday we are going to explore Silvermine East starting from Kalk Bay going up via Trappieskop and Cave Peak

Route

We meet at the parking at Kalk Bay station and go up the stairs to Boyes Drive. We turn left on Boyes Drive and run to the Trappieskop trail. Just after the saddle at the top there is a single-track path to the right which takes us through to the Cave Peak trail. We turn left along here and go right up a small easy scrambly bit to get to the top. We turn left at the top. At the 3 way junction we turn left and run along Dead Man's path and then the jeep track through to the waterfall. We turn right along the fisherman's trail and run to a jeep track.

From the jeep track there are various options and distances:

  1. Turn right up the Crassula path to the Amphitheatre, through the amphitheatre and down Echo Valley to Weary Willy's and home – 11km
  2. Run along the jeep track for 0.6km and turn right up Speciosa Valley, past Kalk Bay Peak and down Spes Bona Valley to Weary Willy's and home – 13km
  3. Turn left on the single track to the jeep track leading to Junction Pool and follow the jeep track round and down to Weary Willy's and home – 15km

A shorter option is to skip Dead Man's path, run towards the amphitheatre and turn right down Echo Valley to Weary Willy's – 7km
