Fwd: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS - SATURDAY 7TH DECEMBER 2024 - SILVERMINE TO SEA

Good Friday Trailers,

Tomorrow's run is on! The weather seems to be clearing a little, with cool, overcast cover and a gentle breeze. Perfect trail running weather!

As far as I can ascertain, there will be a medium paced group doing the 11.75km St James Peak route, and I will be leading the slow-paced 7.5km group.

Please remember to bring your Wild Card/My Green Card or R42 cash for the entry to the parking area.

See you there, ready to run at 7.15am.  Remember there is no cell coverage so we won't know if you're running late!

Hi Trailers,

Table Mountain Trailers run this week will be a point-to-point, mostly downhill run. We'll be running from Silvermine to the sea and joining the festivities at Chardonnay Deli in Kalk Bay with the MATES crew who are running their 24km Deli to Deli.

Route details:

We will start at Silvermine Gate 1, the dam side, so bring your Wild Card/My Green card or entry fee to gain access. From here we'll cross the road and follow the trail past the waterfall and either stay on the same route towards the sea as the MATES runners, which will only give us 7.5 km of distance, or detour to St James' Peak to increase our legstretch to about 11.5 kms. This excursion will mean we have to do some car admin.

Rendezvous and Start Time:

RV at Silvermine Gate 1 (dam side) as soon as you can after the gate opens at 7.00 am. We'll start running at 7.15 am. NB: that there can be long queues to enter in summer, so please arrive early and be prepared to wait for the gatekeeper to arrive.

Park in the first car park on the left, directly after the pay point. Do not drive far up the road to the dam.

Terrain and Distance:

Mostly single track with plenty of "down" for a change!  As we approach the end, there will be running through Kalk Bay.  Please be hyper aware of the traffic which is crazy at this time of year!

Distance: approximately 11.75 kms, taking about 2 hours.

Walking Group will be confirmed on Friday.

Please Bring: whistle, water, a warm /waterproof/windproof top dependent on weather, space blanket and ICE (In Case of Emergency) tag or card

Important: Our runs are pack runs and we may split into 2 or 3 pace groups on the day. Please remember to look behind you at every turn in the route to make sure the people behind you see which way you are going.  Please keep together and ensure that no-one is left on their own.  Routes are subject to deviation on the day.

Unfortunately no dogs are allowed on TotalSports VOB runs.

Have a great week!

Regards,

Lorraine Nevin
