FEEDBACK: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS Sat 27 August: Cecilia/Rooikat/Spilhaus

A bumper run today with 40 of us pitching to get up and above the fog blanketing the burbs.

From Cecilia we followed the cycle track parallel to Rhodes Drive. The Main Group led by Julian had to play catch up to the Medium Group led by Gaeleen (who knew the way). Then the Main Group sped off up the steep jeep track to Constantia Nek and we didn’t see them again till the Skeleton Gorge turnaround where they pronounced they were lost (they were in exactly the right place and just needed to turn around now).

Every man and his dog was out today, presumably training for UTCT and TMC. We helped reunite a lost Saluki and its owner with the aid of an emergency bandage leash and were dodging dogs big and small, left, right and centre.

The front runners of the Medium group split into a Fast/Medium led by Natalie before the Rooikat climb and ran 13.5 km in 2h 11 min. The Main Group ran 13 km in 2h and the Medium Group ran 11 km in about 2h.

FEEDBACK: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS Saturday 20th August: Cape Point and Puffer Table

We all met up at Buffels Bay for one of our scenic Cape Point runs. We were joined in the parking lot by Tim’s group and after a short briefing, we headed up the road and towards Kanonkop.  Tim’s group ran off in the opposite direction towards Gifkommetjie (a route we will plan in future).

At the signpost after Kanonkop, the main group ran towards the main gate, some turning earlier than others.  The medium group turned down towards the beach and headed back to Buffels Bay.  Neil stepped in to look after the slow group.

We enjoyed some lovely sandy single tracks, some rocky sections, grass running and ended with a run on some hard beach sand. Not much wildlife this time – some baboons did join us after the run – hoping for a snack.

Distances covered were between 7 km and about 15 km.  .

FEEDBACK TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS - Sat 13 August 2016 - Noorhoek to Blackburn Ravine

The route developed into a long gruelling run with the fast group racing up
the zigzags and onto Silvermine and then returned via Chapmans Peak Drive
where those who returned on the beach covered 18km and those who opted for a
loop in Noordhoek covered the 20km in 4h30. Most liked the extra distance
but would have preferred to avoid the tough zigzag climb.

Thanks to Geoff and Julie for leading the fast and medium groups respectively.

The route provided panoramic views of the beach sea and Noordhoek valley.
