Hello Trailers!

August 31st is officially the last day of winter and we'll be seeing it off with a little jog around Signal Hill and Lion's Head, starting from Mouille Point lighthouse.

Route details

From Mouille Point (Green Point) lighthouse, we warm up along Beach Road and head up Glengariff Road (please be mindful of traffic).  At the top of Glengariff we hit the trail, catch our breath, and turn right to run above Sea Point. Following the Lions Head Path, we run around the shoulders of the Lion, then all the way along the spine, dropping down to the jeep track above Bo-Kaap and past the noon day gun. On down the hill, through the streets of Green Point, through the urban park and back to the lighthouse.

Rendezvous and Start Time:

RV at  the Moullie Point (Green Point) Lighthouse at 6:55am ready to start running at 7am sharp

Terrain and Distance:

Mostly single track with some solid climbing and flowing running.

Distance: approx 12-13kms taking about 2h30 mins for the Medium Group

Faster Group will follow a similar route with an extension decided on the day.

Relaxed Group will be confirmed on Friday.

Please Bring:

whistle, water, a warm /waterproof/windproof top dependent on weather, space blanket and ICE (In Case of Emergency) tag or card

This is a pack run and for safety, please check behind you to ensure that the person behind is still there and that they see where you turn off.  Routes are subject to deviation on the day.

Unfortunately no dogs allowed on our runs.

Have a great week!

TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS Saturday 24th August TMT Run

Morning all,

Run details for this coming Saturday 24th August

Route
Meet at Constantia Nek car park, along the jeep track to the contour path and along to bottom of Skeleton Gorge, up Skellies.

At the top of Skellies we can split and those wanting a longer run can turn right and continue to Echo Valley where they would turn left, carry on running and then left again back to the dams.

The rest of us can take a little jaunt to the dams and back to the top of Nursary Ravine via Ash Valley, from there past the Overseer's Huts at the top of the concrete road and down Ceclia Ridge (if I can find it!), or down via the concrete road.

The longer group can then follow the same route home, when they arrive at the dams.

Rendezvous and start time
Meet at 6:50am at C Nek car park, ready to run at 7am. It's getting lighter!!

Terrain and distance
Short amount of jeep track to warm up, then mainly single track. Skellies may be a bit wet due to the rain we've had so you will get wet feet and it may be a bit of a scramble in places (no exposure though as we're in a gorge)! Techincal single track on the top of the mountain, technical downhill at Celcilia Ravine.

Groups
This is a pack run with regular regroups with leaders and sweeps for each paced group. As there are a number of people away, there will be no relaxed group. I would not recommend this route if you are joining us for the first time and have not trail run before.

Dogs
Please note that  K-Way VOB club rules do not permit dogs on our runs.

What to bring
Water, whistle, warm/windproof top depending on weather, space blanket, ICE ID - either on your phone, bracelet/tag, and don't forget food.

ImportantPlease remember to look behind you at every turn in the route to make sure the people behind you see which way you are going.
Leaders of each group will ensure that no-one is left behind. Please keep the groups together and ensure that no-one is left on their own. Trail running in inherently dangerous so this group can not accept any liability for anything that happens on the mountain - you are here of your own free will so be sensible!!

Any questions, let me know.

Re: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS: Saturday 10th August 2019: Tygerberg Nature Reserve (R20 entrance fee)

Hi Trailers

Our run on Saturday os ON!  The weather looks clear and sunny but cold so dress in warm layers.

We are starting at the Welgemoed gate of Tygerberg Nature Reserve in Totius street. Remember R20 entrance fee

There are lots of paths for short cuts if required. Great views of Table Mountain and the Stellenbosch Mountains

Directions:

Once you have taken the Jip de Jager exit from the N1 (coming from Cape Town) and turned left, you cross over Uys Krige and the next left is Eksteen. There are brown nature reserve signs to the Reserve from Eksteen road which take you on a wriggly ride through the suburb.

After you turn left into Eksteen, turn first right into Bonsma, left into Saffraan, left into Goeweneur street, left at T junction into Trichardt street, left into Batavia street and right into Totius.

The reserve gate is at the top of Totius street. We'll  meet in the parking lot. Gate opens at 7:30am and we need to pay so will probably start running just after 7:30am

See you there
