Hi Trailers,

This week we'll tag along with the Trail Fun Adventures crew as they take on their TOAD ON SUPERBOWL COMBO.

Rendezvous and start time

Starting at 6:30 am from the Toad on the Road in Lakeside.

For those wanting a gentler, more-down-than-up route, there'll be a few of us starting from Silvermine Gate 1 car park at 8.10am.

Route

We'll tackle the ascent above Boyes Drive, continuing across the mountaintop and descending into Noordhoek to end (or not!) at The Toad in the Village.
For those with energy to burn, you can continue along the 26km route which takes in some of the Noordhoek Superbowl route.
The .gpx files are attached.

Terrain and Distance

A steep ascent on single track followed by beautiful flowing single track, jeep track and a bit of tar.

14.5km or 26 km

What to bring

The weather looks cool and windless but it'll be dark at the start so please bring a headlamp.
Water, whistle, warm/windproof top, rain jacket - weather dependent, space blanket, ICE ID - either on your phone, bracelet/tag, or card in your backpack. Please make sure that you are carrying the right equipment, enough food and water.

If you are starting at Silvermine Gate 1:
Please note there is an entrance fee of R44 for SA Citizens (cash only and remember to bring your ID), unless you have Wild Card or Green Card.*
Also please note that there is no cell phone signal at Silvermine so please don't hope that we will get your "running late" message and wait for you if you are late. You’ll have to catch up! Sorry!

Important

Please remember to look behind you at every turn in the route to make sure the people behind you see which way you are going.

Please keep together and ensure that no-one is left on their own.

Have a great week!

Hi Trailers!

This week we'll be returning to Silvermine for a route we last did in November 2025.

Rendezvous and start time

First entrance to Silvermine on the right coming from Tokai (dam side). Gates to the reserve open at 7:00am but the queues can be long so get there early.
We’ll have briefing at 7:15am in the parking area immediately to the left after the gate and start running soon at 7:30am.

Please note there is an entrance fee of R44 for SA Citizens (cash only and remember to bring your ID), unless you have Wild Card or Green Card.*

Route

We will do this route in an anti-clockwise direction: we start off with some single tracks and run the Old Wagon Route.  We then cross over Ou Kaapse Weg at the bottom of the hill, where the turnoff to Noordhoek is, and up the Silvermine valley via the Sunbird Centre, back to the car park at Gate 2, and cross over Ou Kaapse Weg again and back to our cars.

Terrain and Distance

Some undulating bush trails and gravel tracks via the Old Wagon Road.  Then a good downhill jog to the Sunbird centre then a gradually steeping run up the valley.

Distance will be approx. 14 km and in the region of 2hrs 30 mins for the slower runners. Extra loops can be added for the faster group.

Our runs are pack runs and may split into 2 or 3 smaller pace groups on the day.

What to bring

Please make sure that you are carrying the right equipment, enough food and water.

Important

TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS: SATURDAY 6th June

Hi Trailers

This Saturday 6th June  2026 we will running Kirstenbosch to Constantia neck and back

Trail Route Description: Upper Kirstenbosch → Cecilia → Constantia Nek → Contour Return

Distance: ±11–12 km

Time: ±2.5 hours

Start/Finish: Upper Kirstenbosch Gardens Gate

Start time:  Meet at 7.20 am, ready to run at 7.30 am

Difficulty: Moderate

Route Overview

Start at the Upper Kirstenbosch Gardens gate and head out toward Rhodes Drive. Instead of entering the mountain trails immediately, follow the bike path running alongside the road. This is a smooth, gentle warmup section with steady climbing and great views of the forest.

Stay on the bike path until you reach the turnoff into Cecilia Forest parking. Turn into the parking area and regroup at the Cecilia Forest entrance.

From here, begin the climb up through Cecilia Forest toward Constantia Nek. The ascent is steady and shaded, with a mix of singletrack and forest jeep track. Once you reach Constantia Nek, take a short breather. Turn onto the upper contour path for the return leg. This section is runnable, scenic, and mostly flat, carrying you along the mountain above Kirstenbosch. Follow the contour all the way until the trail drops you back down toward the Upper Kirstenbosch gate.

Highlights

Smooth bikepath warmup before hitting the trails

Beautiful shaded climb through Cecilia Forest

Constantia Nek lookout as a natural regroup point

Flowing, runnable contour path back to Kirstenbosch

Group Notes

Bring water — no refill points on the route

Watch for cyclists on the bike path

Footing can be uneven on the Cecilia ascent and final descent

Suitable for intermediate runners comfortable with climbing and mixed terrain

Remember to always bring:

A whistle, WATER  a warm & waterproof/windproof top, space blanket and ICE (In case of Emergency) tag or card.

Unfortunately no dogs are allowed on our runs.

Have a great week!

Regards
