TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS: Saturday 17th August 2019: Cape Point Nature Reserve - Buffelsbaai (Wild card/ My green card/R76 entrance fee for SA)

Hi Trailers,

It's Puffer time again on Saturday and some of us will be assisting at the refreshment table just outside the gates of Cape Point Reserve. After we have packed up we'll be going into the park for a run from Buffelsbaai. For those not working in the cold and dark, you can meet us at Buffelsbaai ready to start at 7:30

Route
We start from Buffelsbaai and head south along the coast towards Cape Point, overlooking False Bay. After stopping at the Whale watching point we continue south for a short way before turning West and running north along the Atlantic Ocean to Platboom. A true 2 Oceans trail!

In order to get back to Buffelsbaai, we do need to run along tarred roads.

For those who want to avoid the tar and are happy to do car admin, the trail route continues along the coast to Gifkommetjie.

Rendezvous and start time
Meet at 7.20am
at Buffelsbaai (NOT Buffelsfontein information Centre) ready to run at 7.30am.

After paying at the main gate, head south along the road for approximately 8kms before turning left to Buffelsbaai. Meet in the parking lot to the right.

NB: Little to no mobile reception so messages won't be received

Terrain and distance
Single track with tar roads at the end. Around 12km

Groups
This is a pack run with regular regroups, we will split into speed groups with leaders and sweeps on the morning.

The relaxed group will be confirmed on Friday

Dogs
Please note that  K-Way VOB club rules do not permit dogs on our runs.

What to bring
Water, whistle, warm/windproof top depending on weather, space blanket, ICE ID - either on your phone, bracelet/tag, card in your backpack.

R76 entrance fee for South Africans with ID, R303 for foreigners. Best option: MyGreenCard or Wild Card.

ImportantPlease remember to look behind you at every turn in the route to make sure the people behind you see which way you are going.
Leaders of each group will ensure that no-one is left behind. Please keep the groups together and ensure that no-one is left on their own.

See you there!

Liz
