FW: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS - Saturday 28th February - Maiden’s Cove, The Glen, Lions head circuit

Hi Trailers

Tomorrow's run is ON – expect a gentle breeze and maybe a sprinkling of rain

No official walking group

We'll meet at the Maiden's Cove Tidal Pool Braai Area in Clifton. From there, we'll climb up to Lion's Head via the Glen trail, sweep along to the far end of Signal Hill to tag the beacon, and then enjoy a gentle meander back down through the Glen. The route is around 11.5 km, (taking just over 2 hours)  with the option to push a little further up the Lion's Neck if you're craving extra distance and elevation. Expect sparkling Atlantic views, fynbos scents in the air, and that unbeatable Mother City backdrop. Depending on numbers, we will split into two pace groups or stay in one group for safety.

Here's the Strava link from the last time we tackled this route: 👉 https://strava.app.link/DgUw4MVdiQb

📍 Meeting point: Maiden's Cove Tidal Pool Car Park (coordinates: -33.9445348, 18.3757808)

Happy Monday Trailers!

We're heading to East Fort, Hout Bay this week.

Route details
Starting at the parking by Velocity Gym, we warm up with a trot to the start of the trail at East Fort.
Bit of road, bit of jeep track, bit of single track, all the while treated to magnificent views (weather permitting) across the bay, we head towards Chapmans Peak.  Note there is some mild exposure in sections adding to the adventure.
At approximately 7km groups can decide whether to summit Chapmans Peak or head down to Chapmans Peak drive, popping out by the "ticket checker".  From here we have a leg stretch on the tar (approx 4km) back to our cars.

Please remember this a social pack, and its important that we look out for each other.

Rendezvous and Start Time

RV in the Velocity Gym parking area at the bottom of Chappies, ready to start at 06:00 to avoid the heat.

Terrain and Distance

A mix of jeep track, single track and tar.

Distance: +- 12 kms taking about 2h00 - 2h30mins, longer if tagging the Peak.

*Please note adjustments to the route may be made depending on the group and weather conditions. Remember to check Friday's email just in case there are changes.

What to bring

Water, whistle, warm/windproof top, rain jacket (weather dependent), space blanket, ICE ID - either on your phone, bracelet/tag, card in your backpack.

Please make sure that you are carrying the right equipment, enough food and water.

ImportantPlease remember to look behind you at every turn in the route to make sure the people behind you see which way you are going.  Please keep together and ensure that no-one is left on their own.

PS  Sorry no dogs allowed on VOB runs
