A very small group of trailers emerged from their cars in the darkness at Constantia Nek. The others missed a great run with amazing views and great weather!
There was no slow group, so the fast group hopped into a car and drove off to Hout Bay Harbour and the rest commandeered 3 cars and drove down to parking lot at the base of Chappies.
The stunning views of the setting moon took our minds off the first uphill kilometer of tar and by East Fort we were warm and ready for the climb.
As we reached the Manganese Mines turn off, the fast group - who had added a run across the beach - passed us scooping up Natalie and Richard and dropping Geoff who ran in between the groups for the rest of the way.
The route is fairly technical and despite undulations,is generally up - much tougher than the other way round. TMT newbie Chris hadn't been on this path before and really enjoyed seeing a different part of the mountain.
Hout Bay appeared in various guises as we went up and the sun rose.
We took the obligatory group photo near picnic rock - with yet another view of Hout Bay! (and the moon was still there...)
As we came off the Mast road, we could now see False Bay - a real 2 Oceans run!
The last slog up Vlakkenberg isn't as steep as it is from the other side, but does come at the end of the run...
Once the downhill started, the group smelt home and disappeared.
A great run - definitely one to do again.
