Please note that Table Mountain Trailers will be running on Thursday morning instead of Saturday.
Two reasons: many people are creating a long weekend and going away. Also, the long range weather forecast for Saturday is not great (to say the least).
This Thursday we will be running the Toad2Toad route. Direction, Lakeside to Noordhoek. It is a point-to-point, so some car admin is necessary.
Special notes
- Regarding transport:
Please note that you are essentially in charge of your own transport arrangements i.e. we start in Lakeside and end in Noordhoek. What we normally do in these situations is encourage as many people as possible to meet at The Toad in Noordhoek by 06h45 latest. We leave as many cars as possible and climb into as few cars as possible and drive to the start. But we can discuss this on the TMT WhatsApp Group and make other plans as well. But I (Tim) at least will go to Noordhoek at 06h45 to see if anyone wants to make an arrangement.
- Regarding Other:
K-Way VOB members only, remember you can sign up for the K-Way VOB Toad2Toad Challenge. Details on the club email.
Start Time and Place
07h30 sharp. The parking area of The Toad-on-the Road in Lakeside (on the corner of Boyes Drive and the Main Road).
Please get there at least 10 minutes early to sign the register.
Route
In a nutshell, from the Toad-on-the-Road, along Boyes Drive for 1.8km and then up into Silvermine East, down the valley to the Sunbird Centre, up to and across Ou Kaapseweg and then down through Noordhoek side roads to the finish at the Toad-in-the-Village in Noordhoek Village for beer and pizza.
I have been assured that the route we have chosen is considered the Up run (which intuitively doesn't seem right). The Strava route is below. But I have also inserted both routes after that.
- Down-run: https://www.strava.com/routes/2886233481532975762
- Up-run: https://www.strava.com/routes/2886233337002750486
Distance
Just over 14km.
Terrain
A mixture of tar, single track trail and jeep track.
Groups:
We will split into groups on the day.
What to bring
The usual buff/mask covid requirements. Water, whistle, warm, wind or waterproof top depending on weather and your ICE information
Important: Please remember to look behind you at every turn in the route to make sure the people behind you see which way you are going.
Leaders of each group will ensure that no-one is left behind. Please keep the groups together and ensure that no-one is left on their own.
No Dogs allowed on our runs .

Warning: Trail running is inherently more dangerous than road running. It may take place over uneven hazard strewn trails in exposed and often remote terrain where help is not always readily available.
Participation is voluntary and entirely at your own risk as although the organizers take reasonable precautions to ensure runner safety, it cannot be guaranteed. To this end neither the Club nor the organisers personally can be held liable for any claims relating to inter alia, injuries, disabilities and death. Further any minor child participating in any trail running activity will be deemed to be doing so with the consent of his or her guardian.
By starting out on a trail run you explicitly acknowledge that:
1] you understand the associated risks involved and accept full responsibility for your own safety.
2] you are medically and physically fit to participate and
3] are carrying the necessary water, clothing and safety equipment required for the particular run.
