TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS Saturday 4 February 2023- Red Disa Run

Saturday 4 February 2023–   Red Disa Run – Cecelia Forest, Skeleton Gorge, Reservoirs, Aqueducts
This Saturday we will go on an earlier than usual hunt for the red disas. They are fading fast, so, we will enjoy a pre-valentine’s disa run. Our route takes us from Cecelia Forest, via Skeleton Gorge to the dams, onto the aqueducts, down the aqueduct to Hely-Hutchinsin dam (swimming option here), over the wall, into Ash Valley down the cement road towards Contstania Nek till the U-bend at the big rock, where we will take a left down the stairs, at the bottom we go straight across down the winding path through the Eucalyptus trees till the contour path above Cecelia Parking. Wiz your way down back to the cars.

Rendezvous and Start Time

RV in Cecilia forest parking at the top of Hohenort Ave just off Rhodes Drive.

Ready to start at 6h00.  Please come 10 mins earlier to sign the register and for a run briefing.  Please bring money for the parking attendant (R10)

Terrain and Distance

The route consists of gravel road, steps, a nice climb with some rock scrambling, single track, cement road – so a bit of everything.  Approximately 14 km taking in the region of about 3 hours, add on for swimming.  Please note this is a pack run, and we will divide into a few pace groups on the day with a leader and a sweep chosen per group.

What to bring

Sufficient water for hot weather, whistlea space blanket and your ICE information

Please carry emergency contact numbers in your bag or on your wrist/shoe

FW: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS - SATURDAY 28 January 2023: TMTT2T - Toad to Toad Lakeside to Noordhoek

Hi all, TMTT2T is ON tomorrow

Weather – a breeze from the south to cool us down, some drizzle around 8am to cool us down some more, we will start at about 18 degrees and finish at about 21 degrees, full on 100% cloud so all of that means PERFECT running weather.

Car admin – suggestion is to meet at 6am at Noordhoek and jump in as few cars as possible and drive to Lakeside.  After the run we can make a plan to get those drivers back to their cars at Lakeside.

There will be a walking group starting at Silvermine (the non-gate side) which will be 10km.

The walkers will be doing similar car admin, some going to Noordhoek and catching a lift to Lakeside, and from Lakeside Toad at about 6:30am, they will drive up to the Silvermine gate 2 (I think it is gate 2) – the non-dam side, and they will join us at the end at the Noordhoek Toad for a beer or two.

Any questions phone or whatsapp me 082 570 4405

Subject: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS - SATURDAY 21 January 2023: Kalk Bay, Trappieskop and Silvermine

Hi Trailers

Next Saturday Bay to Bay takes over Camps Bay and Hout Bay so we will stay on the East side of the mountain. We start at Kalk Bay station and work our way up to Silvermine.

Route

We start at the parking at Kalk Bay station and clamber up the stairs to Boyes Drive. There we turn left and run along the road for a while until we get to the Trappieskop path. We follow this path up and over (detour to Trappieskop if you want to) all the way down to Clovelly where we run along the single track just above the houses coming down just before the Golf Club. Time to stretch our legs as we take the jeep track through the Golf Course to Sunbird Centre. From here we slog up the hill to Dead Man's path.

At this point there are various options:

  1. Turn right and follow Dead Man's path up the hill to the junction and then turn left to the amphitheatre, through to the crassula path, down to the jeep track, turn right along the jeep track and right again through Speciosa Valley and take the Spes Bona path down to Weary Willy's and back home (around 15-16km - estimated)
  2. Turn left and run to the jeep track, turn right on to the jeep track, pass the crassula path and take the next path right through Speciosa Valley and take the Spec Bona path down to Weary Willy's and home (around 11 – 12 km – estimated: more single track)
  3. Turn left and stay on the jeep track, turning right at the jeep track junction and following this all the way to Weary Willy's and home (around 11 – 12km: more jeep track)

Rendezvous and start time

Park in the Kalk Bay station parking (near Cape to Cuba). Arrive early for check in, ready to run at 6am

Terrain & Distance

The route is a combination of jeep track and single track with bits of tar at the start and past the golf course.

Depending on the route chosen, the distances are approximately 11-12km or 15 – 16km. Very runnable.

What to bring

Sufficient water for hot weather, whistlea space blanket and your ICE information

Re: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS Table Mountain Trailers - Saturday 14 January 2023

Good Friday Trailers!

Hope you've had a great holiday break and are feeling ready to run into 2023 with renewed energy.

Route

For our first run of the year, we'll do our usual Llandudno/Sandy Bay route.

The route starts with a short uphill on the brick paved road, then down to the beach and proceed onto Llandudno .  We then backtrack to Sandy Bay, enjoy the views and head southwards along the shoreline to OudeSchip Peninsula. You can spot the shipwreck Harvest Capella (1986).  We'll then tackle the steep climb on gabion steps up to Rocket (Mitchells) Road.  Once on the gravel road, we run until we take the left fork at the stone cairn and head back towards our cars.

Please remember that for safety reasons, this is a pack run.  We will run in different speed groups, but we will all regroup at the rocks at the end of Llandudno, and then again on the beach at Sandy Bay before heading onto the rocky shoreline.   Within your speed group, you will need to be sure that if you come to a turn, that the runner behind you has seen which way you go.

Terrain and Distance

The terrain will include beach sand, jeep track (stony), single track, boulder-hopping and some steps to get the heart rate pumping.

Distance in the region of 11,5  km, with an estimated time of 2,5 hours, plus more to enjoy the view

Rendezvous and Start Time

Meet at the brick-paved parking on Eustagia Way, opposite Brunia Way Hout Bay.  Ready to start running at 6h00.  Please come 10 mins earlier to sign the register and for a run briefingPlease be aware there is limited parking, so please try and share lifts with friends, or even park away from the area and walk to the start.  Please be considerate when parking your car.

Directions

Take the Hout Bay Main Road around the circle into Victoria Road, drive through the robots and take the second road to the left into Edgar Road and second road on the right. Into Eustegia Way. Parking area on the left opposite Brunia Way.

Walking group
Confirmed :)

What to bring

The usual: water, whistle, warm/waterproof top, sun block, camera, money for the car guard.  Make sure you have your emergency contact details on you. You might want to bring a cozzie and a towel for a quick dip afterwards at one of these gorgeous beaches as the forecast is for a temperature range of 18-22 degrees for the duration of our run.

Have a great week.
