Warning Trail running is inherently more dangerous than road running.  It takes place over uneven hazard strewn trails in exposed and often remote terrain where help is not always readily available.

Participation is voluntary and entirely at your own risk as although the organizers take reasonable precautions to ensure runner safety, it cannot be guaranteed.  To this end neither the Club nor the organisers personally can be held liable for any claims relating to inter alia, injuries, disabilities and death. Further any minor child participating in any trail running activity will be deemed to be doing so with the consent of his or her guardian.

By starting out on a trail run you explicitly acknowledge that: 1] you understand the associated risks involved and accept full responsibility for your own safety. 2] you are medically and physically fit to participate and 3] are carrying the necessary water, clothing and safety equipment required for the particular run.

Fwd: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS - SATURDAY 18TH FEBRUARY 2023 - GLEN BEACH-LION'S HEAD-SIGNAL HILL LOOP

Good Friday Trailers!

The start of this week's route has been reconnoitred and confirmed as excellent! We will therefore meet at the Maiden's Cove Braai Area car park in time to start running at 6am.

Maiden's Cove car park is on the sea side of the main Victoria Road as you enter Camps Bay from the Town side, just below Camps Bay High School. If you're coming from Hout Bay, drive all the way through Camps Bay and look for the signs on your left as you leave the main promenade stretch. If you come down Camps Bay Drive from Kloof Nek, turn right at the bottom and follow directions from Camps Bay. It's easily found if you use Waze or Google maps.

Route:

From the car park, we run towards Camps Bay for about 200 m and turn up the steps hidden beneath the flowery tree (see photo).

Once on the trail, keep right, down the steps – as so beautifully indicated by Sam in the photo.  :D

At the picnic spot, keep right (otherwise you will end up at the Roundhouse.)

There are very many variations for extending the route for the stronger runners, so we'll decide on the morning, depending which leaders are present.

Walkers:

Only 2 people have indicated a desire to walk, so I think it's safer to say no walkers this week, unless you bring your own posse.

Don't forget cozzies and a flask of hot coffee for afterwards.See you there!

Hi Trailers,

It's February. It's hot! But we are lucky enough to live near some fantastic beaches and those of you that joined us at Muizies last week will know how amazing it was to cool off in the waves after our run. So, in the same vein, we'd like to try a new route this week where we start and finish on a beach so that we can reward ourselves with a refreshing dip to calm those hot, tired muscles.

The final details will be revealed on Friday as I will be doing a recce during the week, but the plan is to meet at Glen Beach, Camps Bay, and head up to Lion's Head and Signal Hill through the Glen trail. The looping route will be about 12km with options to extend up the Lion's neck for those seeking more.

Here's a preview of the route on AllTrails - but we will park near the beach (to be confirmed!) and return via the Glen and not down the road.

We'll start running at 6am, so please be ready and signed in by 5:55am.

Walking group – TBC on Friday.

Please bring: WATER, WATER AND MORE WATER, sunblock, weather appropriate clothing, a whistle, a space blanket and ICE (In case of Emergency) tag or card.

Unfortunately no dogs are allowed on our runs.

All the usual t's and c's apply. See the blog for details: www.tablemountaintrailers.org.za

See you Saturday!
