RE: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS - SATURDAY 8 June 2024 Cape Point - Olifantsbos and Sirkelsvlei

Hi Trailers

Our run tomorrow is ON!

There will be a walking group.

Weather looks good for running with a strong breeze.

Please ensure you're on time as we have no reception to get a message.

Olifantsbos is about 10km from the gate so plan your journey. First right turn after the gate.

See you there

Subject: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS - SATURDAY 8 June 2024 Cape Point - Olifantsbos and Sirkelsvlei

Hi Trailers

Next week we will explore the Cape Point Nature reserve from the start at Olifantsbos.  We will run along the beach to visit the wrecks and the climb up to the plateau to run round Sirkelsvlei.

Route

From the start at Olifantsbos parking we will run along the beach visiting various wrecks along the way. After the last one, we turn left to go up the hill to the plateau and run the flowing single tracks up there. At the junction, there is the option to turn left back to the parking for a short run or turn left along to SIrkelsvlei.  At Sirkelsvlei we turn left to run back along the ridge to the parking. At that point there is an option to run straight to get to the road for an out and back to add extra mileage

Rendezvous and start time

The Gate opens at 7am officially. We will plan to start running at 7h45am to give people time to get there. There is no reception so we won't know if you're running late

Terrain & Distance

A mixture of beach and  single track. Distances estimated.

  • The Sirkelsvlei run is around 10km
  • The short turn off is around 5km
  • The out and back can add up to 4kms depending on where you turn round

What to bring

Appropriate clothes for possible misty, windy weather, whistlea space blanket and your ICE information

Please check the weather before you set off from home and pack the appropriate gear, water and food.

Please note that TMT unfortunately does not allow dogs on its runs.

  • Please carry emergency contact numbers in your bag or on your wrist/shoe
  • If you are not well, please stay at home
