TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS Three important Matters

Good afternoon to you all,

Three important trail running admin matters

A: Naming of Groups

Thank you to all of our Leader/ Managers who contributed their thoughts on what we should call our three different groups.   There was virtual unanimity that it should be FAST MEDIUM and SLOWER  so goodbye to the Main Recovery and Walk/Run groups

A brief description of the difference between there groups is more or less as follows:

The Fast Group is for the fitter and more experienced trail runners who run most of the route both up and down hill only being slowed by treacherous technical sections.  Their routes vary  between 11-15kms.

The Medium Group runs at a slower pace to that of the Fast Group  slowing to a fast walk on the steeper uphills and technical descents.  They usually run the same routes as the Fast Group but for a slightly shorter distance  of between 9-14kms.

The Slower Group is a trail running group for beginners and the less fit.  They run the flats but slow to a fast walk on the uphills, over difficult technical sections and take it easy down the steeper descents. They often start over the same route as the Fast and Medium Groups but for a shorter distance  of between 7-10kms.

B: Membership of Trail WP

According to my master register we have over 180 more or less regular trail runners yet so far only a handful have joined Trail WP.   It is in the interest of all trail runners that we have a strong body to protect our sport.
In the Western Cape we have an active trail running association known as Trail WP which I am encouraging you all to join.  The more members the bigger the say Trail WP will have in future developments of our sport. And it costs ZERO.

The objectives of the Association are the following:
(a)           To develop and foster the sport of Trail Running.
(b)           To encourage its members to participate in Trail Running at all levels.
(c)           Represent the interests of its members at all levels of administration.
(d)           To ensure that Trail Running is conducted with due consideration for the environment and other trail users.

All runners resident in WP who are interested in trail running are invited to join as members.  There is no entry fee and no commitments.
Please complete the attached form and email it to TrailWP@hotmail.co.za

C: CV 15 WATER TABLE

I need you!

Our parent club KWAY-VOB will again be presenting the popular Constantia Village 15Km road run on the 5th March and TM Trailers have been asked to man the 8km Water Table.

This is the same race that was cancelled last year because of the widespread veld fires in the Constantia Valley.    We customary do not organise a trail run on that Saturday to enable  volunteers to help at the Table.   So please volunteer you help, its only for a couple of hours

Thanks in anticipation :-)

Thats it Folks
