Hi Trailers
In just one day we have a full team (3 cyclists and 3 runners) to challenge the steam train and the makings of another!
If there are any more runners out there that are interested and especially mountain bikers...please let us know
Marge and Marg can let you know the difficulty of the cycling routes. Please chat to them. Running routes are very do-able. Jo and I can talk about those.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
liz and Lorraine

Subject: Steam Train Challenge
Hi Trailers
The Steam Train Challenge is happening again this year on Saturday 20 October.
Last year a trailers team of 3 runners and 3 MTBers took part in the inaugural race against the steam train from Wellington to Ceres - we didn't win, but really enjoyed it.
The route follows the railway track and is 90% off-road. (they have changed the last leg to be more off-road this year)
There are 6 legs:
Leg 1: Run - 7.2km
Wellington to Malan station
Leg 2: Cycle - 21.2km
Malan Station to Hermon Station
Leg 3: Cycle - 19.2km
Hermon Station to Gouda Station
Leg 4: Run - 7.7km
Gouda Station to Tulbaghweg Station
Leg 5: Cycle - 23.7km
Tulbaghweg Station to Waverley Hills
Leg 6: Run - 10.9km
Waverley Hills - Ceres
It's great fun, you get to see tiny towns that you normally drive past and spectators can buy tickets and ride on the steam train.
If any runners or cyclists are interested in forming a team please let us know. Or you can do it solo and do all the legs...
Check out the details on steamtrainchallenge.co.za
regards
liz and lorraine
