Fwd: TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS - SATURDAY 31ST AUGUST - EAST FORT TO CHAPMAN'S PEAK

Happy Friday Trailers!

It looks as if we are heading into a clear and sunny weekend so lace up your shoes, grab your hydropack and meet us at the car park near the Beach Bar in Hout Bay at 7:20am for sign in! Let's do this!

The Walking group will be walking from the same place, at the same time, but sticking to the road.

Good luck to all the Puffer and Pufhie runners too!

Hi Trailers,

On Saturday 31st August 2024, we head to the Republic of Hout Bay for a mix of trail and road.

Route details

We'll warm up with a trot up the road to the start of the trail at East Fort. We'll join the jeep track until we get the split to the higher contour path where we may split into groups, those who don't like heights or don't want the steeper climb can continue along the jeep track.  We all end up at Blackburn Ravine and follow the contour path towards Chapmans Peak. At the large cairn at approximately 7km we can decide whether to summit Chapmans Peak or head down to Chapmans Peak drive, popping out at the toll gate.  From here we have a leg stretch on the tar (approx.. 4km) back to our cars.

Rendezvous and Start Time

Meet at the parking at the bottom of Chappies, near the Beach Bar.

RV in the parking area 07.20 ready to start at 07:30.

Terrain and Distance

A mix of jeep track, single track and tar.  Distance: +- 12 kms.

Groups:
Please remember this a pack run led by a committee, and it's important that we look out for each other. Always make sure you check to see that the person behind you has seen where you've turned, if applicable.

We'll probably have two or three groups:

  • Medium Group, taking the lower contour path and not summiting Chapmans Peak.
  • Longer Group, taking the higher path and possible extension to Chapman's Peak.

And possibly:

  • Walking Group to be confirmed by Friday

Please bring:

A whistle, WATER (remember a trail 12km can take longer than a road 12km), a warm & waterproof/windproof top, space blanket and ICE (In case of Emergency) tag or card.

Unfortunately no dogs are allowed on our runs.

Have a great week!
