TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS - SATURDAY 22 March 2025 Silvermine East from Kalk Bay - Echo Valley

Hi Trailers

This Saturday we'll explore Silvermine East starting from Kalk Bay station parking.

Route

We meet at the parking at Kalk Bay station opposite the Norman Road steps.  We follow the various steps up to Boyes Drive and wind our way up to Weary Willy's. Here we go straight up Echo Valley, turning left and then right at the top to do some flowing downhill running down Dead Man's path. We follow the jeep track to visit the waterfall,  and run toward Gate 2 turning right before the gate to climb up to Fat Lady cave. From there we descend to the jeep track turning right to Junction Pool. There are many routes back.

We can detour to Muizenberg cave on the way or turn left at junction Pool towards Nellie's Pool; pass Nellie's Pool and then left down the single track through Mimetes Valley (or keep straight on the jeep track). We don't go down to Bailey's Kloof but keep an eye out for the turning to the right turning to get back to the jeep track. Follow the jeep track back to Weary Willy's and back down to Kalk Bay

I have attached a map of the Silvermine East route, showing the route, as well as a GPX file and snip shot of the alternative, shorter route – which was 11 km

Plenty of nice options for coffee/breakfast/swim after the run

Rendezvous and start time
