TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS: Saturday 27th April, 2019: Cecilia - Spilhaus - Rooikat loop

Hi Trailers,

I hope you all had a great Easter weekend and are ready to run off all the chocolate! This week's run will be a gentle, flowing run, given that some of us are still in recovery mode after our Two Oceans efforts.

Overview:
We'll be starting at Cecilia Car park and running the gentle uphill jeep track towards Constantia Nek. From here we'll head along the contour path as far as the Spilhaus ravine single track, which we'll follow as far as the turn down to Rooikat ravine. From here we'll do an out-and-back as far as the Skeleton Gorge path and head back along the contour path.

Terrain:
We'll be on jeep track for the first 4kms and the last, but the middle 4 will be steep steps/single track.

Distance and time:
A total of just over 13 kms distance with ascent of approximately 350m.. We last did this route in August 2016 and, according to my Endomondo history below, we took about 1 hr 45 minutes to complete it.

The faster, longer group may choose to continue along the contour path for an extra kilometre or two, or even take a climb up Skellies.
The Recovery group (pending confirmation from a Leader) will follow the same route but may choose to turn back at the bottom of Rooikat.

Meet at the Cecilia Forest parking area just before 7am for check-in. It's now quite dark when we start so you may want to bring a headlight.

Compulsory kit is: weather appropriate clothing; whistle; water; ICE info; and silver blanket.

We regret that we do not allow dogs to join us, no matter how gorgeous and well-behaved.

See you there!
Regards,
Lorraine
